What happens when you read an article

When you paste a link, our server fetches that page from the publisher, extracts the article and sends the text to your browser. The article is not saved on our servers and is not logged. The publisher's server sees a request from us, not from you, and receives none of your cookies or personal information.

To keep the service available to everyone, we limit each visitor to ten articles per minute. That limit is enforced using your IP address, held in memory only for the duration of the minute and not written to any store.

Analytics

The site uses Google Analytics to count visits and understand which pages and devices people use. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and records information such as your approximate location, device type, the pages you view and how you arrived. We use this in aggregate and do not attempt to identify individuals. Google's own privacy policy governs how it processes that data. You can block analytics with a browser extension or your browser's tracking protection; the site works without it.

The advert

The home page carries one advert for a sister project. Clicking it records an event in our analytics and takes you to that site with tracking parameters in the link so the destination can see that the visit came from here. No advertising network is involved and no third-party ad scripts run on this site.

What we do not do

• We do not require or offer accounts, so we hold no user data.
• We do not store the links you paste or the articles you read.
• We do not sell or share data with anyone.
• We do not use advertising networks or third-party trackers beyond Google Analytics.

Reader pages and search engines

Pages generated by the reader are marked so that search engines do not index them. They exist only for the person who requested them and are not intended to be shared or archived.

Your rights

Because we hold no personal data beyond what Google Analytics collects in aggregate, there is usually nothing for us to provide or delete. For more on the project, see the About page.
